On Sunday, June 2, 2019, The Rev. David C. Nutt lead worship to begin his pastorate with us.

The Reverend David Charles Nutt (Pastor Dave) is a native of West Hartford Connecticut and a 1980 graduate of Hall High School. He is a 1983 graduate of the US Army Health Academy at Fort Sam Houston where he earned his Combat Medic Military Occupational Specialty and served in the Connecticut Army National Guard as a Medic with the 141st Medical Ambulance company until 1990, achieving the rank of Sergeant. David received his Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Greater Hartford Community College in 1985, his BA in English from Central Connecticut State University in 1987, and his Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School in 1991. In 2000, he re-enlisted in the Connecticut Army National Guard as a Chaplain and received his Chaplain Military Occupational Specialty from the United States Army Chaplain Center and School at Ft. Jackson, Columbia, SC.

From 1991-1994 he served as Associate Pastor for First United Church of Christ, Carlisle PA, and from 1995-2005 he was the Associate Pastor at Union Congregational Church, Vernon, CT. From 2005 until 2019 he was the full-time state support Chaplain for the Connecticut Army National Guard. David was deployed to Ft. Monmouth, NJ in 2003-2004 in support of homeland security, Operation Noble Eagle and to Tikrit, Iraq from 2006-2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a decorated combat zone veteran.

David has been married to his spouse Anne since 1985. Anne teaches at American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, and together they have four children, now adults: Moriah, Elizabeth, Rachael and Benjamin. Of the four Elizabeth is married, to Harrison McClain and together they live in San Antonio, Texas.

Dave and Anne live in Rockville, CT with their two labs Chloe and Wexter rounding out the family. Dave’s hobbies include reading, gardening, cooking and Historic European Martial Arts.
